CHRIST CHURCH VIDYAPITH, KODUKULANJI 2019-20 Report

At the very outset, we the Christ Church Vidyapith family thank our Almighty
God for the blessing he has showered upon this institution.
It is my honour to present before you the 21st annual report of Christ Church
Vidyapith, Kodukulanji, owned and run by CSI Christ Church Educational &
Charitable Society of Madhya Kerala Diocese. The school is affiliated to CBSE. It
is situated in a serene location and has all the necessary infrastructure facility, well
equipped lab, spacious library and a vast playground. We have classes starting
from play class to class X. The first three batches of STD X passed CBSE Board
Exam with flying colours.
We have a total of 440 Students, 28 teachers, a Principal, Vice Principal, Bursar, 2
Clerical Staff, 4 Drivers, 5 Ayahs and a Security. Four buses ply all routes. The
school timing is from 9AM to 3.00PM with 40 minutes lunch break.
Each day begins with a staff prayer and prayer conducted by students. Assembly is
conducted twice a week by students under guidance of teacher. During the
assembly students present the news, share a thought and deliver speeches about
important days
Co-curricular programmes like dance, music, Keyboard classes, karate and yoga
are taught in the school. Remedial classes and evening classes are conducted for
class 10 and class 9.To live harmoniously in the society, students have to develop
moral virtues. Moral education is given in the school to instill moral values in
students
Counseling empowers students to accomplish mental health, wellness and aim for
career goals. Counseling classes were conducted in the school.

School Reopening

The school reopened on 06/June/2019. Rev Varghese Philip, our Local
Manger blessed the students. This academic year commenced with a staff retreat
on 31st May, 2019, lead by Prof. Abraham Thomas, St. Thomas College
Kozhencherry. Activities of the school and year plan were formulated after the
retreat.

Environment Day

As part of our efforts to save the Earth, World Environment Day was
observed in the school. A programme was conducted to create an awareness to
protect nature. Rev. Arun G George was the chief guest. Saplings of various trees
received from panchayat and the forest department, were distributed to students
and planted in the school campus.

Vayanadinam

In order to inculcate reading habits in students, Vayanadinam was observed
in the school on 19/Jun/2019. Prof. Johnson V I, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Ninan
Oommen sponsored Mathrubhumi Newspaper for one year. In connection with
Vayanadinam, competitions for news reading, recitation, elocution, quiz etc were
conducted in the school.

PTA Meeting

A PTA meeting was conducted on 21st/Jun/2019 at 2PM. Most of the
Parents attended the meeting. Executive members were elected and teacher
representatives also were nominated. We have an effective and supportive PTA
and PTA meetings are conducted periodically. We express our sincere gratitude to
the PTA and Mr. Stanly Thomas, Mr. Aji Chacko serving as PTA President and
Vice President Respectively

Felicitation of Class X students and Investiture ceremony

A meeting was held on 3rd July 2019 to felicitate the toppers of class X .
Rev Varghese Philip, Local Manager of our school presided over the function.
Shri. O. S.Unnikrishnan,the State award winner for the best lyricist was the chief
guest of the occasion, PTA President Mr. Stanly Thomas and the church warden
Mr. T. Mathew felicitated on the occasion. Investiture ceremony also was
conducted. Leaders of the Academic year 2019-20 of the school were selected and
adorned with badges.


Visitation

A team from Penrith Christian School, New South Wales, Australia visited the
school on 15th and 16th July 2019. They spend the 2 days with the teachers and
students. Teaching and interacting with our students and teachers.

Kalotsavam

To bring out various talents embedded in students, Kalotsavam was
conducted for two days. Various competitions were held between the four houses.

Also students participated in the Sahodaya Kalotsav competitions and won several
prizes. Students participated in theYoga championship and Karate championship
Organized by the AIM and won severl prizes.
Independence Day, Children’s day , Teachers day ,Hindi day, Kerala day
were observed in the school

Exhibition –ACADEXPO 2019

School organized an exhibition in the name ACADEXPO-2019. All the
students and parents participated. The students exhibited their creativity.
The students of class VIII, IX and X were taken to the Medical Exhibition
conducted by The Believers Church Medical College, Tiruvalla.

Tour programme

A one day tour programme was conducted to Ernakulam Wonderla.

Teachers’ Day

Teachers’ Day was observed on 05-Sep-2019. Retired, former Teacher, Mr Jacob
Kurien Sir was the Guest of Honour and he was honoured by adorning a Ponnaada.

Counselling

Catherine Mariam Samuel, a consultant psychologist gave counseling classes to
students of 8,9,10.

Swatchtha He Sewa

On 25-Sep-2019, Students of Classes 2 to 7 cleaned the School Premises, and
Students of Classes 8 to 10 cleaned the Road Sides from Kodukulanji Junction to
School Entrance of all Plastic Wastes. This cleaning programme was inaugurated
by Panchayat Ward Member, Sri T K Soman.

School Safety and Security Awareness

A School Safety Committee was formed on 15th June 2019. Retired D.I.G.
of Police, Sri. K. G. James visited the School and conducted an Awareness Class
on Traffic Rules, School Safety and Security. Staff from panchayat primary health
centre visited the school to review the health condition and issued deworming
tablets for all. They also advised the students to observe Friday as dry day in
school and Sunday as dry day at home.

Annual sports Meet

The Annual Sports Meet was held on 09-Nov-2019. Rev Varghese Philip,
Local Manager presided over the Inaugural Function and Retired S.P of Police, Sri
Baby Charles was Chief Guest and Inaugurated the Sports Meet. Muthoot
FinCorp’s Area Manager, Sri. Raju. T. R was a Guest of Honour, who donated
Caps to all Students.

Children’s Day Celebration
Children’s Day was celebrated on 14-Nov-2019, retired former
Headmistress of CSI Vocational Higher Secondary School for Deaf, Mrs.
Susamma Koshy was the Chief Guest, who addressed the Students. Some students
came dressed as Chaacha Nehru. A children’s Day rally was also conducted and
students presented various programmes.
Charity
An article came in Mathrubhumi about a physically challenged person, Mr.
Prasad, who earned his living by making paper bags. Students and all the staff
members brought newspapers and it was handed over to him along with a small
amount of money in the presence of Rev. Varghese Philip during a special
assembly.
Staff and students visited two elderly bedridden persons and donated financial
help collected by students.
Training for students
Students attended the robotics training at St. Gits engineering college at
Pathamuttam. They were also selected to participate in the final round
Visit to exhibition conducted by ISRO
Students attended the exhibition programme ‘Space on wheels’ conducted at
Bishop Moore Vidyapith, Mavelikkara. Special thanks to the Principal Mrs. Mary
John.
Staff Meeting
Regular staff meetings are conducted to discuss various operational matters.
Examination
Unit tests, periodic tests and half yearly exam were conducted as scheduled.
Parents were informed about the progress of their wards and open house was also
conducted.
Governing Council
The Governing council and the working committee evaluates the
functioning of the school and gives necessary guidance and support for the smooth
conduct of the school. I extend my whole hearted thanks to the governing council
and the working committee members.
Endowments
We have 3 endowments

  1. In the name of Late Mrs. And Mr. P C Joseph. Planthrayil
  2. Late Mr. Y Mathew, Bijuvilla, Kodukulanji.
  3. Late Mr. T. V. John, Thuthikkattu Peace Cottage
    Let me thank Mr. Reji Kuruvilla, the choir master of Christ church, Kodukulanji,
    who donated the amount to buy a new keyboard for the music club.
    Our former student Mr. Jeevan Thomas Koshy has donated the amount to buy a
    computer.
    Mr Jacob Chacko donated a handsome amount of money to buy books and a book
    rack for the library. Also he donated a huge collection of Encyclopedia.
    I use this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to our moderator and
    Bishop Most Rev. Thomas K Oommen and Diocesan office bearers for their
    relentless guidance.
    Let me convey my sincere thanks to Mr. Jose Paikat, the former manager of
    self financing schools, Madhya Kerala Diocese for the support and guidance in the
    day to day functioning of the school. The new manager Prof. Joseph Thomas took
    charge in the month of November.
    We are lucky to have the unfailing support of the church wardens, church
    committee members and all the members of CSI Christ Church, Kodukulanji
    Our Local Manager, Rev Varghes Philip has been with us in each and every
    activity. With great reverence I thank Achen for his selfless service and
    involvement.
    Rev Chandy Jose has always readily accepted our invitation and been with
    us. Achen is a well wisher of our school. I express my deep gratitude to Achen.
    Conclusion
    May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Staff, both
    Teaching and Non-Teaching, Students, Parents, School Working Committee
    Members, CSI Christ Church Office Bearers, Benefactors and Well wishers (to
    mention specially to those who sponsored whole year fees of few Students badly
    affected due to the recent flood and other financial supporters) for the whole
    hearted cooperation
    Let me conclude this report by entrusting our school into the divine hands of
    God Almighty. I pray that our institution should become one which imparts good
    education and moulds the young generation.
